About Artist

Adi Zekcher is a multifaceted artist whose journey from classical music to visual art reflects his deep engagement with creativity across different mediums. A musician and painter, Zekcher’s transition into the world of visual arts began in 2007, marking a significant turning point in his career. Prior to becoming a painter, Zekcher spent decades immersed in the world of classical music, which likely influenced his understanding of rhythm, harmony, and composition—concepts that would later carry over into his approach to painting.

During his 20 years in New York City, a hub for creative expression, Zekcher found his passion for painting. The vibrant energy of the city, its eclectic art scene, and its cultural diversity undoubtedly played a role in shaping his artistic vision. It was in this environment that Zekcher discovered the tactile and expressive nature of painting, an outlet that allowed him to explore his artistic voice in a new, visual way.

What sets Zekcher’s paintings apart is his unique technique of finger painting, which he has perfected over the years. Instead of using traditional brushes or tools, he relies on his hands to apply and manipulate paint, creating rich, textured layers and vivid compositions. This approach gives his work an intimacy and rawness that connects the artist directly with the canvas. The tactile process of finger-painting allows Zekcher to engage with his work in a highly personal and physical way, much like a musician playing an instrument.

Over the course of his career as a painter, Zekcher has created over 450 mixed-media oil paintings on canvas. His works combine bold color palettes, dynamic brushstrokes, and abstract forms, often evoking a sense of energy and movement that reflects his musical background. His paintings can be seen as a visual counterpart to the emotive and dynamic qualities of classical music, drawing parallels between the emotional depth of sound and the expressive power of color and texture.

In late June 2011 Zekcher participated in the Hell’s Kitchen Art Festival, curated by Mr. Michael Felber. In May 2011 Zekcher exhibited, as part of a group show “Jazz, Zen and Graduation” in Hell’s Kitchen, New York, curated by Ms. Dorothy Krakauer. In November 2010 Zekcher held a third solo exhibit Theme and Variations, New York Exhibit Opus III, which was hosted by the Ambassador of the Philippines to the United Nations, H. E. Ambassador Cabactulan. Previously, Zekcher exhibited at the Lava World Music Lounge at the East Village and in NY in January 2010, an exhibit curated by Chris Pollock. Zekcher’s first exhibit, named “Eleven Days – Selection of 11 works” – had exhibited at the United Nations Headquarters, in New York City, for 14 months, between April 2008 and June 2009.

In the 2025 exhibition season, Adi is planned to showcase a selection of his canvas works at the Gallery by the Lake in his hometown of Raanana. First under curator Ms. Orit Lotringer and secondly with curator Ms. Rachel Ziv.
